Hello. My name is Jerry and I have been useing BIAB for 2 weeks now. I am a newbie and am seeking help with my problem. My problem is that when I click on open folder..open BB styles..Bluegrass or whatever file there..song comes up and all I hear is drums. The drum button is not solo..I can see the piano playing and bars passing..Now, please don't get me wrong..I like drums..but when they get so loud on a music program you cant hear anyone else..that aint right! Anyone have a fix for this? Thanks, Jerry

Jerry,

When you Preview a style, can you hear different instruments? If so, your setup should be OK. Are you able to play any of the demos in the folder? That's where I would start to make sure your MIDI and synths are set up correctly.

Jerry;

Check your volumes on all the tracks. Make sure drums isn't on 127, and everything else is on 55 or something.

If the drums are Realdrums then you are hearing an audio track and no midi tracks.

Check your midi setup. If you click on the Drum Icon (you didn't say which version you are using), you should be able to disable RealDrums). Now hit play and if you hear nothing your midi is not setup as required.

In order to get started try the Cheesy Microsoft midi in Opts Midi..if you can hear instruments then it's time to troubleshoot the next level.

Hi John, Im using 2009 Ultra. Somewhere along the line I changed-clicked a button or something else cause I don't hear midi but I do hear real tracks just fine. Even the chord builder is not allowing me to hear chords. When attemting to to input notes on staff the scub function not working. Now when I first installed program this all worked..I just cant find the idiot button to fix it. Hope you can help and thanks for your time. Jerry

If you midi is the Dxi go into options midi and open the dxi window and check the volumes there. I have had them all reset to zero for some strange reason. Problem with midi is
1. The Control Panel has a set of volume parameters for Midi..go there and ensure they are set to Max.
2. The Dxi synth has a set of sliders for midi channels, they are in the mix.
3. Finally the Band in a Box volumes for Midi Channels are also tied in but should reflect the volumes in the Dxi if that is what you are using.

If it was me, I'd start by re-setting the program to factory settings. Under the "OPT." menu option you'll find "Return to factory settings".

The Vsc Dxi is the best option, sounds much better.

Should show up in Opts -- " Midi

I personally would not load just the vsc.

Jerry,

As John has said above, the VSC Dxi is the best option. The VSC and VSC DXi soft synths are the are different programming approaches to the same thing. VSC is older technology and less efficient.
