Is there anyway to make the real tracks trumpets sound muted or any other brass instrument for that matter? I've got Garritan Jazz and Big Band, but it just doesn't sound right.

Real tracks are what they are. They are recordings of real instruments. There are some DECENT muted trumpet SoundFonts out there, but IMO only good within a limited range.

Sure, use the built-in effects.
Bring up the VSTi Synth dialog, and click the Melody track (or whatever the trumpet is on).
The first thing you'll need to do is simulate the frequency cut that the mute does.
Under Plugin, choose PG Ten Band EQ in the first slot. Move the sliders for all the bands down to -18. Set the 1K and 4K sliders to 0, and the 2K slider to +18. This cuts most of the frequencies except around the 2K frequency. Play with the sliders until you get a sound that you like.
Now, you'll want to add a bit more "buzz" to the sound. Still in the VSTi Synth dialog, select PG Distortion for the second slot. Move the Pre Gain slider to 20 as a starting point, and adjust until you like the sound.
Not a perfect emulation, but it'll get you close to the sound you're after.

Wait a minute please. I'm confused by the question. Leonard, are you using a RealTrack trumpet, like your question said, or are you using Garritan? As for the comment about range, an actual trumpet player rarely uses the extreme upper range when using a mute. On my trumpets with mutes, as well as on my flugelhorn, I can play well above high C but you wouldn't want to listen to it, unless you're going for some special effect (like eliciting fear or anger).

Wow,Your a genius,how did you figure out how to do that? It's perfect and exactly what I was aiming at. Like I said I was using Garritan Big Band and Jazz and the wind instruments just sound so lifeless and dull. Thanks for that awesome tip.Leonard

Yep, I tried it (real track) and it sounds pretty decent, thanks for that tip. In fact, I saved it as a preset for further use.
