Here's a brief "How to" for assigning midi instruments to BIAB tracks using the software synthesizer, Dimension Pro. In the below example, I'm adding a piano sound found in Dimension Pro to BIAB's Piano track so that it can play the MIDI data located on that track.

If you look at the image below, the "blue" Piano indicates that it's a MIDI Supertrack.

1. As shown below ...
  • Click on the VSTi (Synth) button
  • Select "Piano"
  • Click on the synth dropbox where it says "None"
  • Select Dimension Pro from the list of synths

When Dimension Pro loads (it will take a little while) ...
  • Click the "Empty Program" window
  • Select "Piano" from the browser that pops up (you might need to drag this browser up the screen by left-clicking and holding the mouse button down on the top bar where "Program Browser" is written)
  • Expand the list of "Pianos"
  • Double-click on a choice of piano

I also like to add some reverb in Dimension Pro. (It's down the bottom of the VSTi window. Make sure "FX" and not "MIX" is selected - these controls are also near the bottom of the VSTi window and on the left. Selecting "FX" will make the reverb button visible.)

If, for some reason, it's not possible to find the reverb button, drag the top edge of the VSTi window down and make the window smaller. Scroll bars will then appear and it's possible to scroll down to the bottom of the VSTi window.

Now close down the VSTi window, generate the song and you're in business.

Regards,
Noel
