Help Please! Program was running fine on my old computor until it died. Bought a new laptop (running Kapersky, which I did not understand) which messed up the disk. I took the computor to our local shop who suggested reloading windows, which I did. Still no joy! I contacted an Aussie guy who sent me the BB setup prog. which got me started. However, after entering setup I get the message "IK Multimedia\Amplitude3\Prests\Band-in-A-Box\AA\Airbender.a3P. The source file is corrupted."
If I "Ignore" a whole is of progs come up with the same answer. I looked in the IK folder and the authorisation Manager folder is empty.
Can anyone send me a list of what is supposed to be in the Installation folder? Or failing that, can anyone suggest anywhere in Australia where I can send my disk to have it put back together.
I'm an old dude (74), and struggle to keep up with modern technology - even my mobile phone is a challengs!
I really can't afford to buy the program again so I would really appreciate any help I can get.
Cheers. Jazzvibes.

Sorry...spelled it wrong. Kaspersky....antivirus program. Damn difficult to understand if yer an old dude!
It took out the BB12 setup program and messed up some other stuff. As I said, setup begins ok, but after inital questions on where to put it etc. is come up with a box that says "IK files corrupted" I was under the impresion that the IK program was an optional. I don't think this should have tried to load imediately after BB setup begins.
I think that somehow all these different setup files have been put back in the wrong place, which is why I requested help in finding out what was in these folders and what went where.
Any help at all would be welcome.
Cheers. Jazzvibes

Hi jazzvibes,

When you say BB12 do you mean BB12 (which is a pretty old version of the program) or BB 2012?

If it is BB 2012 and if you registered with PG Music, I'm pretty sure they'd help you out with setting it up. They're a great company.

Contact options are listed under the "Support" link at the top of this webpage. The "Live Chat" option is a good way of communicating. It's a text-based internet connection.

If you click on the "More Contact Info" that I've highlighted in the image, there is also a international toll-free number. (Australia is listed as one of the places that can use this.)

Lastly, if you need to find out what time it is in Victoria, British Columbia (home of PG Music), the world clock found at this link can convert time zones for you. Simply scroll down and you'll see a link to the time zone convertor.

Hope this helps,
Noel

Hi again jazzvibes,

The IK BIAB presets are found in the "My Documents" folder under IK Multimedia | Amplitube 3 | Presets if that helps.

Details of your authorisation of Amplitube will still be on the IK website.

The version of Amplitube that came with BIAB is a free one so if it is indeed lost, it doesn't matter. It's easy enough to get back.

One other thought that occurred to me as I was typing this up is that it might be worth deleting absolutely everything to do with IK Multimedia.

Go to "Control Panel" (under the Start menu), select "Programs and Feature", right-click on Amplitube 3 and then click on "Uninstall".

That way, when BIAB is reinstalled, Amplitube will also be reinstalled. (To tell the truth, though, I'm flumoxed that Amplitube is not allowing the installation to occur. Have you tried disabling or shutting down Kaspersky while you install? That's what I'd do.)

From what you are saying, your antivirus program sounds like it's one of the "try and then buy" deals that come with laptop installations of Windows. If you have a legitimate copy of Windows, I'd uninstall Kaspersky and go and get Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE). Many people on these forums hold this Microsoft antivirus software in extremely high regard.

Hope this helps,
Noel

Thank's guys for your support. It is 2012. I will try deleting IK and see if that works. Kaspersky did come with the laptop and I did buy it, but it is a bit cumbersome to use. I began using BB on a Mac about 1996 and just love this prog.
Anyway, thanks again.
Cheers. Jazzvibes.

While a great AV program Kaspersky can be a bit of a pain sometimes. Kaspersky does not have a turn off switch, Kaspersky does offer you a Pause Protection mode found by right clicking the Red K in the system tray.

If that does not work you might try uninstalling Kaspersky.

When you uninstall Kaspersky you have the option of complete uninstall or a custom uninstall where you can save the registration data. If you take that option all you have to do in reinstall the correct version of Kaspersky and it will pickup your registration data automatically. Then all you have to do is run the updates and you are back to where you started, hopefully with BB installed as well.

Jazzvibes,

I forgot to mention that Microsoft Security Essentials is free. From all accounts, it's a great antivirus program.

Noel

A big +1 for MS Essentials!

Definitely, big +1 on Essentials. For the past 10 years I've been using Norton. Even with all of its drawbacks and resource hogging, I thought that I was getting a good av / malware package. Finally, while trying to lower resource usage and latecncy spikes, I took the advice of the group here and switched to MS Essentials about 2 months ago. Its pretty impressive...very light load and if you don't look occassionally, you'll never know that its hard at work in the background.
