Another original composition of mine.

OK, so here's the tracks:

RD: NashvillePop16^4-Hihat,Snare - mostly. However I see there are little bits of 5 other drum tracks on the multitrack so there may be another style in there at some points!

RT: Guitar, 382 Electric, Slide Background Blues Ev085

Tracks not from BIAB:

Bass is a patch from a sound module played through an amp. You can hear some unintentional spill onto the vocal track during the third verse when the bass, piano and guitars are supposed to be muted. I didn't mind the effect so I left it.

Piano is partly inspired by a BIAB midi track (can't remember the name) but was played by me using a patch from a sound module. There's some bits that might sound like "Sweet Home Alabama" - which is not entirely unintentional. The song was originally written on piano - and when I was recording the original piano part using midi there was a timing lag which actually sounded quite interesting, and gave me the idea for the overall feel of the track. The trick was finding something in BIAB that approached the feel (took a while - this was about the 8th attempt to find the right feel). Looking at the multitracks there is also a second piano part which I don't think I used - and also an odd electric piano in the left channel which I think is faintly audible in the mix but which blends into the guitars. Listening again I can hear spill from the second piano part during the third verse...

Guitars: There are two overdubbed Strats ... one completely clean (the solo) and the other with various FX (which was double tracked). There was also another guitar part that didn't make it into the final mix...

Vocal: Single tracked - one take (the brief moment when all the other vocals appear at the end of the third verse is just an FX trick manipulating that one vocal). That's me singing, of course.

Percussion: There's some random clatter going on.

Everybody's Got Soul

Everybody's got soul these days
I don't have to tell you
Everybody looks as cool as Jimmy Dean
Everybody's got soul these days
It's like Coca-Cola
You can even get it from a machine

I'm all skin and bones
It's a long way home
It's a long way home

I remember when soul was precious
It seems like a lifetime
Now it's paraded around until it's obscene
Every mother's son can get down
And go through the motions
Put that down boy
You don't know where it's been

I'm all skin and bones
It's a long way home
It's a long way home
And I've lost my blues
And I've got no soul
Yeah I've lost my soul
