Anyone who had to do computer based calculations on dates can say with emphasis that y m d h m s is by far the best.

The banking software I wrote for GoodLife Fitness in '84 had a lot of date based stuff. The big mistake for me was 16 years later stuff changed. I got called about a cost in 1999 to fix or confirm my code would work. I told them it would not work. I asked for 1k to fix it.

20 minutes work to go from yymmdd to yyyymmdd in 4 fields, pad the existing dates. All the routines were fine.

I felt guilty and donated the Money to my former partners Autism foundation.

The guy who was programming part time quoted 185,000.
A large firm gave them a quote of 590,000.
I got it at 1k.

My wife overheard the new accountant tell this at the board room table, calling me an idiot in front of my wife and former partner.

He was terminated on the spot, and the runner up hired. His job lasted 1.3 days. I lasted longer as a pin setter where guys in duck tailed hair cuts tried to kill the skinny kid instead of high scores. I was so scared I was fast. The owner gave me a bonus, he got more games in. I remember Elvis on the juke and hundreds of people all smoking.

The long part of the shipping is getting it off Vancouver Island. Some days the mail kyack hits a headwind.

And they have tea at 4 and go home after. So veddy British on the Island eh?
