Hi guys and gals.
My question has to do with muting instruments.
Now, I know how to mute instruments for a whole song or for a bar (or bars) but...how do I mute instruments where there's a hit or held chord? For example, a bar has a triplet so I set up two 2-beat bars and write the chords as hits (c..,c..,C..) and the next bar has 2 beats as well (C) All of this written with the tempo changes and all. Now, what if I want only the bass drum and piano to play the triplets and not the other instruments? I can't figure out the chord notation for this.
Any ideas?

Not sure I understand you question but I'll give it a shot. If you place a letter after one or more periods after the letter chord...like "C.bd" then the Bass and Drums would be EXEMPT from the "rest" created by the period after the C. So, in effect, using those letters INCLUDES selected instruments and mutes all others.
The insturments for Bass, Drums, Piano, Guitar and Strings are:

Thanks, but it's the opposite I'm trying to do. I don't an instrument to be exempt from the hold. I only want some of the instruments to play the hold and the others to be completely muted for that bar or bars.

I'd use F5 then...at each bar.

Sorry if I'm STILL missing your point but...
If you type "C..b C..b" for example, in a given measure, then ONLY the bass will play and the others will by definition be muted.
I don't know about the F5 command so don't know if that's any easier or more difficult.
If I'm still missing your point then I will BUTT OUT!!!!!

Jim, F5 is the answer here. Place cursor on the bar you want to change, hit F5, then mute the instrument, then go to next bar, repeat an F5, and unmute the instrument.
