Highlite area, and click 'edit-gain change'...then the 'fade out' button on right side

You can also draw the fade out in using the pianoroll feature by changing the control to CC7 (control change 7)
Also try fading out a small section, then a larger section (or vice versa) to get a faux fade out that is a curve as opposed to a straight linear fade. Sometimes this soudns better or more natural.
Example fade out 63-1-0 to the end, then go back and fade out 54-4-0 to the end... you will get a gradual fade that fades out quicker at the end..
These are just made up measure numbers but will serve for the example purpose.
You can also experiment with the adjustable fade... have a section near the end fade out from 100% to 30%, then fade out the last section normally, etc...

I would put rharv's suggestion into the wishlist for RB/PTPA. Very simple math change for PG music to add in all kinds of fades; exponential, sigmoid, etc. This is pretty common in other DAW software.

You can draw it in now using the volume control in the piano roll window... I asked long ago for other fade out algorythms and they never got included

That's kind of surprising since the math is so simple. But then again, I don't understand the inner workings of PG's code and don't know what kind of tear-up it would mean to their programming.
They have to do some kind of math for the gain anyways. In my current DAW software, I can pick from linear, exponential with positive and negative exponents, and sigmoid.
I can do auto cross-fades between two different audio clips as well. Clips overlap? Click the autocross-fade button and bang, they are blended.
The best thing is that it's all non-destructive and doesn't involve drawing other than picking the fade in end point or fade out start point on the audio clip.
It's kind of like a hidden automation layer that's dedicated to fading for a track. Then of course there is a typical 'draw-your-own' volume automation as well.
I'm so used to it, it's hard to remember what it was like before but your post above reminded me of it.
