I'm just curious to find if there's a way to extend the auto ending a bit, since the two-bar format tends to cut off the cymbals and last notes a bit abruptly...I'd like to have those hang on for a bit...

The only way I have found to fix this is to save the arrangment as a midi file. It will add a couple of empty bars to the song and all the instruments will fade more naturally. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot. I was also using a workaround shooting it into Realband and stretching the individual last notes of some of the instruments out in the piano roll...it just seems there should be a more elegant way to do it...

Well, that's how I often do it. Also, I generally use a few notes of MIDI drums to complement the other instruments at the end. A nice cymbal crash (after a short drum fill on the tom toms) decays well and gives the song a finishing touch, and it's very quick and easy to add. This works well even if you are using Real Drums.

Neither, Ian. I do that in a sequencer; Beowulf mentioned he takes his song into RealBand.
When I take all the tracks from BIAB into my sequencer, even if there are Real Drums, there is also a MIDI drum track generated. I strip out all 'drum' sounds from that MIDI drum track, leaving only percussion I might want, such as triangle, conga, or shaker (my stuff is mostly Brazilian). However, since the drum track is still there, it is easy to manually add back a cymbal hit here and there, and some tom tom fills.

Matt is correct. Using a sequencer is a very good way to clean up the ending of a song. That's how I do it also. Just a thought though, another way would be to use the tag function on BB to extend your ending. Then you could either eleminate (turn if off) the 2 bar ending and/or clean up the 2 bar ending like Matt stated. Just a thought...
