Well, that's how I often do it. Also, I generally use a few notes of MIDI drums to complement the other instruments at the end. A nice cymbal crash (after a short drum fill on the tom toms) decays well and gives the song a finishing touch, and it's very quick and easy to add. This works well even if you are using Real Drums.
