John, the BBE goes last in the chain, just before the amp, or you'll be fighting with the EQ.

I have used an earlier version of this unit. I don't use it any more. The reason is that it gives you a sound that I can best describe as 'brittle' that begins to almost hurt your ears after awhile. At first, it sounds great, but then your ears get 'tired'. That doesn't make any sense, I know, but it will.

Keep in mind, my method of using any effect is very conservative: turn it up until I hear it, then cut in half. Thus I am not over-using the effect that I describe.

However, I have not used BBE in live stage work, only the studio. It may very well be worthwhile in live work. Like any effect, use in moderation.

Got it today and have been playing around with different setups. Matt you are correct. The best sound comes when the unit is after the EQ and just before the amps. It really brings these cheap Kustom boxes to the front. The intelligibilty of vocals and acoustic guitars, cymbals, drums, well shoot everything seems more defined. It reminds me of taking a real nice mix and then running it through Tracktion "Final Mix" plug. It just brings everything out.
