I've just started playing the saxophone and I am currently working with some of Jim Snidero's stuff ( jazz conception).
Usually I use Transcribe (a mac application) to slow down music, but it doesn't sound very good. Biab on the other hand does a very good job slowing or speeding music up or down. Then the thought struck me that the loops feature in BIAB might do the job.
I fired up BIAB 2012.5 and added a .m4a file from my itunes library to the loops folder and assigned it to the strings track. Soloed the track and set the tempo (the tempo mentioned in the sheet music, but I guess you could use the audiochordwizard to find the correct tempo). I had no idea that the élastique algorithme worked with loops, but it does. It worked perfectly, never heard a better "slowdowner". Maybe it's possible to line up the music, so you could add your transcriptions to the melody track, I haven't tried it yet. Don't press the play button again at the new tempo, as the loop will playback at "normal" tempo. BTW the loop screen works too.
