Hi,
I'm confused how the list of the RealDrum Variations in the DrumStyle Picker relates to the list that drops down with a right click on measure number.
( Also, seems to be a bug in 12.0 where the variations are listed twice. )
---------
This is the british rock drums
Here is the variation list in the drum style picker window
1-a:Snare, Closed HiHat b: 2-a:Snare, Closed HiHat b: 3-a:Snare, Closed HiHat b: 4-a:Snare, Closed HiHat b: 5-a:Snare, Loose HiHat b:S 6-a:Snare, Loose HiHat b:S 7-a:Snare, Open HiHat b:Sn 8-a:Snare, TomTom b:Snare, Crash 9-a:Snare, Open HiHat b:Sn ( Then list is repeated again )
Here is the drop down list on an a:measure x a:Snare, Closed HiHat a:Snare, Loose HiHat a:Snare, Open HiHat a:Snare, Tom Tom [b:Snare, Ride Bell] [b:Snare, Crash Ride]
Here is the drop down list on a b:measure x b:Snare, Ride Bell b:Snare, Open HiHat b:Snare, Loose HiHat b:Snare, Crash Ride b:Snare, Tom Tom [a:Snare, Ride Bell]
I don't understand how the variations in the style picker window end up like this... Can anyone explain what I am seeing in each of these? Also how did Rides suddenly appear, when that isn't even a variation?
thanks, joey

Hi Joey, I'm not sure what RealDrums style you are using, I don't recall that we have one called "British rock drums". Anyway, with the one as you describe above, it shows you a list of what drum grooves are available.
The variations in the Drums window are combinations of 2 of the grooves (one for 'a' and one for 'b'). 'Rides' appear in the groove list because they are an available groove, and it looks like they weren't chosen for a variation, so don't appear on the list of variations.
To summarize:
1. Variations are chosen in the Drums Window, and have 2 grooves, one for the 'a' and one for the 'b'
2. Grooves are chosen by right clicking on a bar on the chordsheet, and are a specific single groove.

A little clearer...
( RockClassicBritEv^ drum style by the way.)
Are all of the following correct?
1.) So in the variation window, above it is not showing the entire "String" because of a character limit in the window then. For example, 1-a:Snare, Closed HiHat b: actually has stuff in b:, but it just isn't showing, and you have to look in the window below reading the paragraph to see what is in the variation.
2.) Variations just pick a default a and b groove, but you could just as easily have chosen the same grooves by right clicking in chord sheet window.
Questions
In the chord sheet drop down, explain the grooves that are surrounded by brackets [ ]. It seems to be a subset of the the opposite part, but not a complete set? And if you choose one of these, the part switches from a to b, or b to a. At which point you have access to all grooves for that part. I don't get the purpose of this? If I want the part to switch from a to b, or b to a, why wouldn't I do that normally. And if you are giving some shortcut here to do two things at once, then why don't you show the complete list of grooves for the opposite part in brackets?
Bugs... If you come back to the drum style picker, the variation window is blank, you can't see what is selected, you have to click on the style name, which resets the variation chosen.
thanks, joey

Also... I just installed 12.5
The bug where the variations are empty so you can't see selection still exists.
Also, the bug where it shows the variation list twice still exists. For example, in RockClassicBritEv^ it shows variations 1-9, and then again 1-9, so eighteen rows are shown.
Also, the incomplete string is still shown, so variations 1-4 look identical unless you look below in the larger text description.

I can't duplicate that. I see a single list 1-9 on that style in the RealDrums Picker for RockClassicBritEv^ ====================================================== >>> Also, the incomplete string is still shown, so variations 1-4 look identical unless you look below in the larger text description.
Yes, that happens on a few styles, RockClassicBritEv^ is one of them. Will fix.

I'm on a Mac...
Not overly concerned about the bugs, just pointing that out to help you... I really need the following answered because I don't understand the functionality in the chord sheet...

And if you choose one of these, the part switches from a to b, or b to a. At which point you have access to all grooves for that part. I don't get the purpose of this? The [ ] brackets indicate that choosing that groove will change the substyle (from 'a' to 'b' or vice versa). The full list of grooves are shown, some are in brackets to indicate that this will change the substyle if chosen.
For example, for the RockClassicBritEv, you will see 6 grooves:
Snare,Closed Highhat Snare, Loose Highhat Snare, Open Highhat Snare, TomTom Snare, Ride Bell Snare, Crash Ride
You can choose any of the 6, at any bar, to get a custom drum treatment for the song.

Ah, I get it now... thanks.
Some of the grooves are available in both a and b and some aren't, which was what was confusing me.
Got it now, thanks!
