I'm new to band in a box, so the questions I ask may be very obvious. I have tried quickly searching help and have explored the program though . . .

I have regular computer speakers and studio monitors in my setup. All the sounds I play live and send from BIAB from Midi go to the monitors. Is there a way within the program to set the recorded BIAB tracks that I still use to the monitors instead of just coming out of the computer speakers? I prefer to keep my general computer audio to the speakers and my music making stuff to the monitors, so I'd rather not change my computer audio settings every time I use the program.

If the answer is a flat-out no, then I'll be sending this to the wish list section of the forums. :-)

I'm in love with this program, it's completely changed my jazz practice routine!

Thanks for anyone who responds!

Welcome to the forum! You've posted under the BIAB for Mac forum, so I'm assuming you're running BIAB for Mac. Unfortunately, I'm not aware of any way to do this short of changing your system preferences settings. Are you able to do this with other programs that you're using? If so, then seems like a reasonable wish list item. Realize that BIAB outputs both audio and MIDI, depending on whether you're using all real tracks. The midi output can be output to any midi synth (which you could direct wherever you'd like).

Good luck

Bruce

I know it's not exactly the answer you are looking for, but this may help :

http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/26433/audio-switcher

Lives in your menubar, and makes switching audio outputs pretty painless.
Hopefully this helps.

I don't know if I understand what you're trying to achieve. Anyway, I use airplay (WI-FI) as my system output to get sound to my monitors, that goes for midi too (played though Kontakt 5). To use Airplay as system output you'll need Mountain Lion.

Thank you guys for replying, your comments are very helpful!

Bruce- I am in fact using Mac, and I am sending MIDI to my Kontakt player and those sounds do go through my monitors because of that. I am talking about the Real Tracks in particular I think . . . If I understand correctly the drums are direct audio in that case, and that's the main issue I guess. It would be nice to have that audio sent to where ever I want from within the program. All my other programs give this option, such as Logic, Kontakt, and Sibelius. Off to the wish list boards! :-)

Jay- Thank you, this is a great workaround! If I must switch back and forth, then this is the way to do it. :-)

Svenne- I do have the latest OS, so AirPlay is a possibility in general. But are they Wi-Fi speakers? I am using Roland DS-50s connecting via S/Pidif to an external M-Audio card. But I tend to only do this specifically when using my music/recording apps. I have normal speakers for general computer usage like videos, iTunes, notifications etc. I'd prefer to just send all Band in a Box sounds (the audio and the MIDI internal sounds that play by default) without sending all my computer sounds to the monitors whenever I want to use the program.

Thanks again all!

Duane
