I'm working in RB 2011.5....am working on a song with only solo piano, so it's relatively quiet. I've noticed that when I select a section of my song, then re-generate the RT piano, it leaves tiny "clicks" or "snaps" at the beginning and end of the selected regions. Maybe I've just noticed this because this track isn't so busy with other sounds.

My process is:
--in track view, select the measures I want to regenerate
--right click, pull down menu, select Generate RealTrack, and pick the RT I want

Then, on playback, I can hear the faint, but noticeable "snaps" where I started and ended my selection.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Each time you select and regenerate a section you create a separate piece of audio track which will play successively with the other sections, but the joints may be heard.. Look in the Classic Tracks Window and at the last column to the right "EVENTS". For an Audio Track this number should be ONE unless CC7 or CC10 controller data has been included. The same information can be viewed in the Event List use Control + F2.

Use Track > Consolidate Audio Region to change the various individual audio files to one contiguous audio track to remove clicks due to multiple audio sections.

LynB (and anyone else)

...now I've tried this, but it never seems to get the result I need..I've experimented in this way:

generated net new arrangement in BIAB..saved piano track to wav file. Imported said wav file into RB. Pasted a couple of bars of a previously generated RT into the new audio track. Selected entire track, then used consolidate audio function. Can still hear the joint clicks.

I've also tried to wholesale replace the 8-bar lead-in with a new gen so that there aren't any clicks in that portion, but, when I try to join it with the rest of my track, and do "consolidate" I still get the joint noise.

Any other suggestions?
Here is the song..you can hear the clicks in the first few bars..they are throughout, but I really don't want to start this out with extraneous sounds.

I'm no expert but when you join audio tracks I think you should be Cross-Fading them. Not sure if you can do that in RB though.

Actually I've just checked the manual and you can do it in RB. There's a button in the Audio Edit Menu called 'Crossfade when pasting audio'. You could try that, I think it should sort it.

Hi Tano,

Sometimes I highlight a region of a track and partially generate. Mostly, I prefer to generate multiple tracks and 'copy-n-paste' the bits I like from each track into a compiled single track. The "Multiriff" function is a great way to generate 7 multiple tracks. Have a look at it under "Help".

As Pete A has said, when one pastes audio over existing audio, a menu will pop up that has a number of possibilities. One of the possibilities is to crossfade. This will certainly reduce (and maybe eliminate) some clicks.

What I favor, though, is to make sure my selection has no audio at each end when I copy it. I expand the scale of RB so that it's easy to see where the audio-free regions are. The same holds true for (re)generation. I select a region that has zero audio at each end. Sometimes this means that I might have to generate 4 bars instead of 2. I don't mind that, though, because I always end up with something that works.

Hope these thoughts help,
Noel
