First off, I just bought what I thought was BIAB 2012.5, but it turns out to be 2011.5, with a 2012 upgrade disk. It was a good deal and I'm liking it a lot, but I'm wondering how much it would cost to upgrade to 2012.5 (I'm in the UK.)

Second, I've installed BIAB on my iMac, with RealTracks on an external HD - seems to work fine, but playback is through the computer speakers, not my monitoring setup. I have a MOTU 828 MkII and KRK Rokit 5 monitors. (I'm also running ProTools 10 on the iMac and playback monitoring is absolutely fine.)

I said it was a newbie question, for which I apologise, but any suggestions, please?

Adrian,

Contact PG Music Sales and explain your situation, they may make you a "deal" on an upgrade.

On your second question, you need to direct the BIAB audio and midi output to wherever you'd like it to go. The midi output is set up under the MIDI menu in BIAB. I believe the audio output (real tracks, real drums) will go wherever you have SOUND directed under your Apple system preferences. So if you want real tracks to play thru the Rokit monitors, I think you'll have to set your system sound thru that output.

Good luck

Bruce

Be sure to register yourself as a BIAB user, and keep the registration (meaning address) current. It will entitle you to whatever upgrade discounts are available from now on.

And welcome to the community! We were all once where you are now. I think you will find these forums pretty noob-tolerant.

Thank you, chaps.

Rob at PG told me how to fix it - Apple>System Prefs>Sound>Output>MOTU 828. Bingo! Sounds fab.

Finally, huge thanks to the guys (and gals) at PGMusic, who checked on my purchase details and have now upgraded me to 2012.5, at no cost. Yay!

HI Adrian,

I'm in a similar position to yourself. I bought 2012.5 from the UK distributor (as an upgrade to V12) and am now waiting for PG to send me a link to the upgrade because what I got was in fact 2012. I don't think you can buy 2102.5 in the UK

I emailed the sales team and registered my product as advised on the slip in the packaging but have not so far had any response, maybe I should phone.

Regards

Malcolm

Malcolm,

PG emailed me the links, by return, and are sending a disk. If you don't get any joy, PM me.

I received the links today and the install process was painless.

So if any potential UK buyers are concerned that they cant buy 2012.5 directly, don't be; the system in place to upgrade works very well. PG Music just require proof of ownership and thats it.

I might just add that Et Cetra were a pleasure to deal with. I had a faulty disc when I bought 2012, a replacement arrived in the post next morning. They were also able to answer a few queries I had regarding the upgrade. Top service.

Now got a huge learning curve in front of me trying to get to grips with all the new features from V12.

Good to hear, after the less than stellar customer service some music software firms 'offer'. I haven't downloaded yet; think I'll wait for the disk.
