There are two answers to your question. Firstly, if you prefer to use the GAIN CHANGE feature, you always have the EDIT - UNDO option as many times as you want until you're happy with the result. When you save, give the file a new name so that you can always roll back if you change your mind at a later date.

Secondly, if you want to use "envelopes" select the track and open the PIANO ROLL window. In the top right hand corner of the window, make sure AUDIO VOLUME is selected. In the lower section of the window, click and hold at the point where you want the volume change to start and drag to the new location and volume. When you release the mouse you will see a graphical representation of the volume change. Once again, you can use the UNDO command if you want to try again. You can put in as many volume changes as you want and when you play the track you should see the track faders move in either the TRACKS window or the MIXER. It is possible to remove all the volume changes from a track using the CUT command with the DATA FILTER.
