I try to use Cakewalk first time for improving songs made in BIAB. Is it right way? Would you like to give some examples of doing that? There is no good results in what i have received at the moment.Your thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

This is my normal way of doing composer's demo songs. I assume when you say 'Cakewalk' you mean SONAR. If you are using some other Cakewalk product, then please specify. I use SONAR instead of Real Band or Power Tracks only because I learned SONAR first. From BIAB, I save the song as MIDI and also save the Real Tracks as individual instrument files. I import all these into SONAR, then edit and mix. You state you have 'no good results'. If your problems are from BIAB, we can help if you can be more specific. If your problems are from using SONAR, you should post in that forum: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tt.asp?forumid=5

In addition to what Matt allready said:
save MIDI: a) go to the "file"menu->"make a standard midi file"->press "file on disk"->give the file a name and destination->press "save". or: b) Press "F6"->press "file on disk"->give the file a name and destination->press "save".
Saving audiofiles: a) go to the "audio"menu->click "render MIDI to stereo wav file etc..."->select one wave per track->click "choose"->give the files a name (prefix)->press "save" or: b) rightmouse click on the instrument selector->click "save MIDItrack/realtrack/realdrums as wav->give the file a name and destination->press "save".
If your cakewalk (I don't work with that so I don't know)use other extensions for audio, then the filesneed to be converted or sometimes can just be renamed(extension). So like Matt says: more details about the problem might help...

Thank you, Matt and abaudio. I do export from BIAB to disc, than take Cakewalk Audio Pro 9.00, as was recomended at one forum, to improve sound tracks, change them for other "real" instruments. You're right probably I should ask at Cakewalk forum how to do it Kuguar ----------------------------------- www.freewebs.com/olegs

You say you want to improve tracks by replacing them for other "real" instruments? What do you mean? Are you talking about replacing MIDI tracks and replace them by instrument "plugins" or make overdubs that you record on other tracks with a real ("live") instrument?
I'll be back...

Hi Kuguar. I don't use Cakewalk either. I use Real Band and sometimes, Powertracks Pro. Both are made by PGmusic and are super simple to learn and operate.
Cakewalk is supposed to be a midi sequencer but has audio available also. (I'm pretty sure it does) Cakewalk doesn't make the music sound great. It's the equipment you listen to the music through that makes it sound good. Plugins will help sharpening the tones etc. But good recording and playback equipment are the real key here.
Here's a suggestion I have for you. If you have the latest version of Band in a box and you purchased the Ultra pack, then you may have Real Band as well. If you do then install it on your computer. The beauty to using Real Band is that it will open any Band in a box file. If you have the latest Ultra pack then you have the real instruments as well. Simply install those. But if you have the older version of Band in a box (hereafter BIAB) then you won't have either the Real Instruments nor Real Band. If you want the best and the easiest then get the latest Ultra pack. You can buy it at Pgmusic store and it will be shipped directly to you.
I hope this is helpful. If I new anything about Cakewalk I could be more helpful. Perhaps Mac could jump in here as he's a Cakewalk expert.

Kugar, Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 is a nine year old piece of software. It is going to be a problem.
Where do you get the sounds from BIAB? Do you have an external hardware device, synthesizer or keyboard, or do you use a Software Synth? If so, which one?
Do you save audio, or do you save MIDI?
A good sounding Synthesizer, either hardware or software, will probably be the first step in getting a better sound. Second step is finding a better piece of software, and one not so old.
