Harv, I select with the mouse only because setting the start and end points always throws me. Bar 32, start 1-0-0 through bar 39 4-4-119 or whatever it is.....
Just for me it's much easier to position (snap ON always) at the start and count 1-2-3-4 as each 1 beat increment highlights on the screen, though what you do does exactly the same thing.
I do a LOT of this creating solos. I'll do as many as 8 from the same Real Track and while I get a lot of duplication of sections, I can usually seam together a pretty decent solo. My tip there is to do multiple generations from the same Real Track, because they are so different sonically where one has distortion, one has reverb.... if you paste things together from different Real Tracks it sounds like one of those guitar legend TV shows where each guy plays 8 bars and they all sound really different.
