Hi Tom,
It isn't necessary to know the channel. Here's why:

- Say that you're adding an instrument to the piano channel. You don't know the channel. Set the "Forced Channel" (on the VST/DXi synth dialog) to whatever you want (e.g. channel 6). Now whatever goes to the synth, uses channel 6, so you put the SampleTank on channel 6.

The advantage of doing it that way, is that you can save your synth patch (save Group... saves a TGS file), and at a later date, add it to ANY TRACK, and it will still work because it's set up to always rechannel to 6, which is what that synth wants.

I have no objection to adding the channel info somewhere on the mixer, in case don't want to use the forced channel for some reason. Where on the mixer?
