Close RealBand
Go to Windows Explorer (not internet explorer)
Go to Realband folder (probably on C: drive unless you are running from the hard drive)
Delete Realband.INI file.

Restart RB
May solve problem; could be this file has an error
Realband will recreate this file when you start RB.

I suspect this because you said the new version still does it, and RB will preserve this file from version to version .. along with RB.CFG (which you also may want to try deleting as RB will recreate this one too.

If this doesn't work, and you have another drive (like the shipping drive for 2012) try running RB from there and see if the problem fixes itself. If you do run it from external drive now, try running from C: (if available) and see if any different.

I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome
