I apologize for being full of questions and not answers, but that's how I usually drill down to where the problem is.
So let me ask one more question (and there will probably be another following that). Did you happen to install the program in the "C:\Program Files(x86)" folder?
I'm not sure that waiting for 2013 is the answer, because the underlying engine of the program hasn't changed, and you mentioned in your original post that this happened occasionally in 2012, as well.
