I apologize for being full of questions and not answers, but that's how I usually drill down to where the problem is.
So let me ask one more question (and there will probably be another following that). Did you happen to install the program in the "C:\Program Files(x86)" folder?
I'm not sure that waiting for 2013 is the answer, because the underlying engine of the program hasn't changed, and you mentioned in your original post that this happened occasionally in 2012, as well.

Not a problem with all the questions, that's how problems get solved...
Both BiaB and RB are on my C drive...not sure what the (x86)folder is..again my lack of computer skills isn't helping.
Big news flash!...just for the hell of it I merged a tune I was working on today and it came out stereo..go figure.
I went back and checked the last five songs I've merged and they are without a doubt mono, I didn't do anything different this time than I've done in the past..something changed somewhere.
I'll go back tomorrow and re-do a couple of those mono tunes and see if they change to stereo.
The worst problems to find are the intermitten ones.

It must have been my questions that solved the problem.  When my wife has problems with her computer, she always comes and asks me to "lay hands on it". I will usually come in and do a little fiddling (on the computer, not the fiddle) and she'll ask what I did to make it work. She'll usually say she did the same thing, but it didn't work. Go figure...

I can tell ya that if realband.ini didn't exist, Realband would't work .. except for the fact that RB will create a new (default) one if it doesn't exist, or gets renamed .. so it always exists!
The file is there. You just ain't seeing it.
Not seeing ANY ini files is what made me think it's hidden, as there are numerous .ini files in the Realband folder.
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

John it may just have been all your questions... and my wife does the same thing except here it's the ignorant leading the confused..
And Bob, I agree, it's gotta' be in there somewhere and I don't see it...like a lot of other things here..I'll find it when I'm not looking for it.
I'll do a post tomorrow one way or the other when I re-do those songs and let you all know how it turns out.

Hi Rusty,
You mentioned that you cannot find RB.ini - you won't, the file is named RealBand.ini as advised above.

Well folks everything seems to be working just fine now, I don't know how or why or what changed but everything I've merged has come out stereo...can't ask for more than that.
I gotta' tell you I feel a little silly for coming in here with what I'll call a phanton problem, and I want to thank everybody for all their help it was much appreciated.
This has got to be the best forum on the net.
