One lesson that should be studied at the same time as all of the other piano lessons is "Ear Training 101". This interactive computer program will teach your ears to hear intervals (distances between notes) as well as chords. A good plan of action is to spend 5-10 minutes a day with "Ear Training 101" while you are studying all of the other lessons.
