Real Band Stereo Track Problems Like many others who have already reported on the Real Band forum, I've experienced numerous problems with stereo tracks. Some of them are listed below. Not everyone will want to go throught these steps, but I ask at least some of you to confirm problem three below. I sent this to tech support and am waiting for an answer. Perhaps it's just me, but after seeing so many reports of stereo track problems, I decided it was my turn to troubleshoot and chip in. I hope it helps.
Problem One (Stereo track W/O FX assigned): When a stereo track with no FX assigned is playing, pressing the Mute button mutes the track. When the Solo button is pressed while the track is still muted, the Mute button resets to green, but only the left side of the track will play again (right side of the track is silent and right side output meter is blank). This condition persists until the song is stopped and restarted or the Mute button is again toggled on and off.
Problem Two (Stereo track with FX assigned): When a stereo track with FX assigned is playing, pressing the Mute button mutes the track (same as with FX), but now, with the track muted, pressing the Solo button resets the Mute button to green, but both sides of the track remain silent (no track output meter indication). Like problem one, this condition persists until the song is stopped and restarted or the Mute button is again toggled on and off.
Problem Three (Stereo track with FX assigned): Right clicking the volume slider allows a volume trim value to be added (-24 to +24 dB). This works correctly on mono tracks and stereo tracks without FX assigned. When FX are assigned to a stereo track and a volume trim is added, only the right side gets boosted (or cut), the left side remains unchanged at 0 dB. This fault also happens if trim is adjusted with the "Trim" knob on the DirectX/VST Window (opened by pressing the FX button on any track).
Problem Four (Starting with a song W/O track FX assigned): 1. In the Tracks window, press the down arrow on any track to "Disclose more Track Info". 2. Press "Apply Cat FX". 3. Now the mouse wheel becomes super sensitive. Scrolling up and down the tracks before the FX were added allowed smooth transition, one track to the next. After pressing "Apply Cat FX", the mouse wheel has three times the sensitivity, making it difficult to stop and locate properly. Note that pressing the FX button and manually adding FX to any of the four slots does not cause this problem; It only happens with the "Apply Cat FX" method.
Problem Five - Stereo Scrambled Tracks: Like many others on the forum, I've experienced stereo tracks changing to mono. I need to troubleshoot this more, but here are some observations . . . 1. When generating tracks in stereo, I sometimes do so on two parallel tracks. Both tracks are initially set to stereo. Things usually start out okay, but sometimes, and I haven't figured out why, when I generate on the next track, the same instrument comes out mono. I have even had a few occasions when I've generated partial tracks in stereo without problem, but further down the track, on the same track, the same instruments, start showing up in mono. Stereo and mono on the same track! 2. After doing something like moving tracks around I've ended up with a very strange phenomena. For example, a stereo guitar track that now has guitar on one side and vibes on the other. 3. Stereo tracks that became mono.
These things have happened numerous times and I've always worked around them, but will now work to document and troubleshoot more precisely.
Best regards
Don

Thank you John! It helps me a lot and hopefully many others that you took the time to test and confirm. I hope it all gets fixed soon.

#5 has been fixed He must not have updates.
Change the default track empty type and the problem goes away. It was a bug. Now its history. I don't recall if having default MONO was what caused it, or MIDI ... or
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome Make your sound your own!

Don,
I can definitely confirm problem #3 when using the volume trim knob in the vst window. Are you using RB 2013? I'm still on 2012.5.

I have 2013, build 2 (the latest). I also have Initial Track Type set to Stereo. Looks like the first four points are confirmed problems. Perhaps number five . . . well, I'll let you know if I see these problems again. If I do, I'll report as accurately as I can.
Thanks,
Don

Try setting the default track type to Midi. I had some problems at one time, but I cannot remember now what they were, but since then I always changed the default to Midi. I will keep an eye open for funnies.
