Have you been using the drive without this message or has it always been there? Check the policies of your drive. Go into the drive properties and find the Policies tab. USB drives are usually marked 'Optimize for quick removal'. If it 'Optimized for performance', you may see that error unless you 'Safely remove hardware' first. It can be a number of other things including hardware problems but I'd start with the Policies. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330174Rachael p.s.
