I just wonder... is there not a way to leave the forums and take all your posts with you? I don't see anything in FAQ addressing "delete my account", "hasta la vista", "adios"..... inquiries to the folks at PG have not been replied to.

Just thinking out loud here but I would imagine one would have to copy each post and response individually and paste into some kind of word processor. Also not sure how long a life a post has here on the forum, so some may already be gone to that big forum in the sky.

Danny, what I am asking is how someone who decided they wanted to disassociate themselves with the forums can delete their account and any traces that they were here. I know when the spammers sign up for an account to tell us about the Hot Asian Teen Escorts, the mods delete the account and the message goes with it. But that is ONE message. In your case, you have made 4577 posts. I have made 2500. If you or me were to have our account deleted, would those 7077 posts go with us? And if someone WANTS to leave, I saw no option to delete your own account.

Eddie, you would definately need help from a MOD/Admin to get this done. I've not seen any board where, when you decide to leave that board) all messages either disappear automatically, nor an option that would let you do that.

Mike

Yeah most of the time you still see the message but the user shows something close to "no longer registered" or something similar. Just wondered because there is no "remove me" kind of option that I could see.

I would imagine it is difficult to leave because after a person has cooled off, they are usually right back in the thick of things. Ya think?

Besides, if they have offered someone help, that help should stay for future members. And there's something about "not being able to unring a bell"...

Eddie don't worry. I am sure that when you leave there will be a huge bidding war for your postings. My guess is that the Library of Congress and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will be the top competitors, although department of Homeland Security will probably express an interest as well.

You can't leave, no one can leave. You think you are out but they pull you back in, the madness never ends (like the mail as per Newman) you won't get out, believe me you CAN'T GET OUT!

Sure you may be on everyone's ignore list but you are still there! Maybe for a week or two you see or hear nothing, but it is just a sly trick, smoke and mirrors, because you just can't get out. I am telling you YOU CAN'T GET OUT, YOU WILL NEVER GET OUT!

Is this hypothetical or are you really wishing to leave?

Eddie,

I've left before a couple of times.

Guess what? It didn't take.

I obviously came back. I don't know what might be bothering you, but if you need it, take a break.

Then come on back.

I don't appreciate or need the kind of abuse that redneck clod from Florida decided to heap on me just for informing someone that his post was in the wrong forum. First of all, I was right. Second of all, the wrong forum it was in had 2410 views. The one where it belonged had 57,000. I was trying to help the guy get his question seen. Then whoever that jerk is wen toff about how rules don't matter to him, how he lives to break rules..... far too "punkish" for an old man his age to be acting. I man I blocked the guy so I don't have to see his vitriol any longer (if you are reading, Clem, it means "angry outbursts") but I believe I deserve a public apology from him or he should be banned from the forums. If the powers that be let him get away with what he did, then maybe I don't want to be here.

Eddie, don’t throw out the whole bushel when there is one bad apple!

Those of use who have been around here a long time have been in the exact same position at one time or another.

Screw him! Everyone saw that little exchange for what it was, ..just a knucklehead who wanted to hear himself preach. He'll come around, or he won't, don't let it bother you. Actually reminded me of someone else when they first came on board and before they drank the BIAB koolaid, but heck Eddie, you turned out to be a good guy.
