Lyrics:
Summer had begun
Hearts eager and young
Shadows moved across the sand
Hand in hand
Under a jealous moon

Chorus:
For a little while we felt the heat
Love was new love was wild and bittersweet
If I could go back to that yesterday
I wouldn’t mind if I could stay
For a little while

Our days went so fast
Running out at last
When the course of time and fate
Wouldn’t wait
It ended all too soon

Chorus

I’ll never forget
The passion when we kissed
The beauty of her eyes
The softness of her body next to mine

Autumn winds turned cool
Summer love did too
When it’s not in the stars
Distant hearts
Will turn to someone new

Chorus

Nice one austin. Some nice phrasing in there, a cross between Lennon and Young. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, I really enjoyed this. A strong song excellently done.
Yes, a strong Neil Young hint.
Well done Austin.

Did you live track the backup singers or is that a plugin? Very nice arrangement and good recording and tracking. I agree it has a Neal Young vibe to it and your voice fits perfectly.

Wondering how you did the backing vocals though...very nice.

Thanks to all for the listen and comments.

I did not think of this as having a Neil Young vibe but now that it's been pointed out I can see it, or rather I hear it.

Hi Rick

Thanks for the nice comments.

My process it to render Real Tracks to Cakewalk Home Studio (Sonar), do the vocals, mix, shake, stir, and keep my fingers crossed that it all works out. I had BIAB 2006 lying dormant and upgraded to 2012.5 a couple of months ago for the Real Tracks.

I use a little Behringer Xenyx 1202 mixer and M-Audio Nova condenser mic. I play guitar but so far I haven't added my own playing in yet. Too much fun playing with Real Tracks.

I sing the vocal parts track by track. I don't use any type of harmonizer equipment or software. That would take the fun out of it for me.

I'll do three or four part harmonies a track at a time. I really enjoy the process. I sometimes attempt to change the tone of my voice on some tracks. Sing one more nasal, etc. Once I've recorded multiple background harmony tracks I solo those tracks and mix just those vocal tracks. I add eq, compression, and reverb and sometimes delay as needed. Then I mix them with the music tracks and lead vocal and tweak as necessary. I decide where to place them in the stereo field and put a few percent of space between each of them for clarity. Sometimes I put them to one side or the other and with FALW I cloned the harmony tracks and put a set to the left and a set to the right with each set offset from each other in the stereo field. It's what I call fun. Disclaimer: Some may read this and think "he's mad" he doesn't know what the heck he's doing and they would be right. I experiment and learn by doing and I keep learning along the way and appreciate what I can learn from others. Cheers.

Enjoyed it Austin. Loved the vocal and especially when you went up in your falsetto for the ending - nice touch.

Thanks Pat for the very nice comments.

I wasn't comfortable with this song in writing it and recording it for some reason. Some songs are like that for me. I was curious what the response would be when I posted it. Your comments along with the others I received make me feel a bit better about it.
