During this last year I have posted several songs on the showcase minus the vocals. I had such high hopes that I had found someone to do vocals but though I have contacted this person several times I get no response. So I am actively looking for someone willing to do vocals on my songs. Will give 50% ownership of songs to the person who would be able to do this. I have songs for both male and female vocalists. Am willing to make any changes needed to accomodate the vocalist in either lyrics or arrangements such as key, etc. It would be especially helpful if you have BAIB for exchanging files. Thanks. vzudell@hotmail.com

Try your church choir. I got some of my friends, from two different church choirs, to help me out with some songs of mine. They were happy to do it.

Val, Have you asked Hayley or Jennifer for female or Danny for male vox artists? I'll bet they'd love to help you. I had understood you to want male vox. There are some great voices, male and female, on these forums. Sundance (Josie) comes to mind immediately. Danny's daughter, Jennifer Miller, is the female vox on Danny's CD. She has a very sweet voice. My son, Gordon, whose voice you are familiar with, may be interested but I'd love to hear Hayley sing your stuff. Wow!

Val, what are the styles? You really shouldn't need BIAB to share and collaborate. For example, I played electric guitar for one of OCC's tracks and I didn't have any PG products to deal with.
All that you need to do is export an audio file of the various songs. The vocal talent can then load in that audio file of whatever DAW they are using, then they can record the vocal track(s) and then provide those back to you in audio format and then you mix them together.
I've been to Otter Lake many times - used to camp at a church camp in Otisville, right down M-15.

OK Val, I am downloading Country Morning Sunshine from the User Forum. And I see the lyrics are there also. So I hope to give it a go over the next couple days.
Do you have any recording of it actual sung? If not, then without a specific melody line I suspect my "version" my be whatever I can come up with by placing the lyrics to the music. Any suggestiond?

Val, I have laid out the song in my DAW. And I identified 5 sections where the fiddle main melody plays . I assume this is where the versus will be sung. But I only have three verses to sing! Can you look close at this and give me an idea how you want the 3 versus sung. I suppose I could just let the fiddle play the melody over two of the versus or sing a couple twice. I bet there is a "bluegrass" standard for how to sing this? Shows how much I know.

flatfoot,
Thanks for that suggestion! I'll look into it. I too am ready for "Talent in a Box", let me know if you hear of it's release!

Hi Don, No I haven't asked Hayley or Jennifer. I guess I just assumed that they are already pretty busy with their professional careers and probably don't have time to spend on things like this. I know it's quite time consuming. But yes, it would be great to hear someone like that do the songs when they are ready for the professional market. What I'm looking for right now is someone to do demos to submit to pro market. Thanks though. Val

Hi Scott, I'm living about 5 miles from that camp you were talking about! Beautiful area around here. I was surprised to find so many on here that are familiar with this area. Most of my songs are done with a touch of country, some bluegrass, some pop style, some folkie stuff. I used to play with a country band years ago and I guess it kind of influenced what I do most easily, though I was trained in classical piano. As for the lyric writing, It seemed to come naturally but I honed my skills as a member of Nashville Songwriters Assoc., attended their seminars, and learned a great deal also from our Mid Michigan Songwriters Group. where we would submit our songs for group critiques. Priceless experience! You can listen to some of my songs on Soundclick if interested. www.Val Zudell@soundclick.com

jazzmandan, I would be delighted for you to take a "whirl" at the vocals on this. No they have never been recorded but the lyrics would be sung between the violin soloing. If it would help I could send you the BIAB file with the note based lyrics. I put the melody track with a simple one line melody that could be used for a vocal guide and then removed after the vocal is added. Would need an e-mail address to do this. Probably should give you my vzudell@yahoo.com in case you have any questions. A lot of times my Hotmail address won't let me open anything that comes with attachments. Thanks for taking a whirl at this. Val

Didn't mean to skip over your post, curmugeon. When I hit reply and the new screen comes up, I have a hard time remembering who I've replied to and who I haven't. Weren't you the one who used to come to Otter Lake to visit your brother years ago?

Oh, boy, first compiled take is laid down... Takes about 4 go throughs to warm up the vocal chords, then I pick the best parts for the first compilation. Now, how much polish do I do. I do struggle so in EQ'ing my voice. I did take two very small liberties with wording (yiieps, is that wrong? ). I'll tell you, two small pharses just did not seem to fit in my rendition. Otherwise, the song sang itself. That bluegrass vibe is just ingrained down deep in all of us. Just needed a little fiddle to bring it to the surface. Let me tinker with it all a little more today and then I will send it to you tomorrow.

jazzmandan, I can hardly wait to hear what is going on with "Country Morning Sunshine". I'm so excited! I'm sure what ever changes you found necessary will be fine.

Thank you so much! This suits me just fine! Not everyone can handle vocals on a fast moving song like this. And it does sound like you had fun doing it. That is what it's all about in the long run, isn't it? I'll be getting back with you soon with "Gettin' Up In The World".
