Howdy, my wife and I are preparing our new CD and I'd like to ask you all a question. This isn't our first CD but it is our first using PG Music and I was wondering what is the best way to credit the tracks? A thanks to PG Music? Just say loops? Let folks wonder? Since our 2003 CD did well I'd like for PG Music to be mentioned on this one if appropriate. Thanks again to all of you who commented on many of these songs! Edited: 12-28-2012

Not sure how to credit PGM, but I have to say that we love the cover pic & overall layout!

There are a few recent threads about giving credit to PG Music and you should be able to find them by searching the forum. Peter Gannon gave a short but thorough answer just a month ago.
Just a few suggestions on your credits:
•Check the spelling of "occasional". •Sometimes you credit Janice using a last name, and others not. You might want to be consistent. •Normally no space between the copyright symbol and the year.
Good luck!

I'd also ask if Apple is paying you anything for the prominent placement of their logo.
But to your question, I might say something like "Thanks to PG Music for their fine products that helped make this CD possible."

I found the thread in which PG Music apparently gave their opinion, at least as it applies to RealTracks. There are a few other ideas too. Look at this: http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/showflat.p...true#Post384821

Hi Janice and Bud,
Congrats on the CD - your songs sound great. Alison Krauss better watch out!
In regards to your question..
>> I was wondering what is the best way to credit the tracks? A thanks to PG Music?
As you likely know, no credit or mention is required, but we are of course happy to see any kind of mention that you think appropriate. Likely a mention of Band-in-a-Box or RealTracks would be most recognizable to customers. Something like "Band-in-a-Box RealTracks used for some instruments"
As mentioned elsewhere, please don't credit the RealTracks artists by name, as they didn't play directly on your CD.
Update: Now that I see your cover, and see that you already put a thanks to PG Music, what you have already is great.
Have Fun! Peter Gannon PG Music Inc.

I like eddie's answer. he worded that well. I like Dan's answer as well. And Peter's answer seems appropriate. I do think, however, that it ought to say "Produced by Bud Merritt" - since you did, after all, produce it. (I would leave the "loops" reference out - you are not a rapper - it "detracts" from the wonderful, beautiful music that you and Janice produce)

Thanks everybody! I've updated the liner notes in the opening post.
* This is a bit of a rough draft. The final will list the length of the tunes and give credit to the publisher of the "cover" songs.
* I have suggested on many different forums that folks should use the search engine and I should listen to my own advice.
* Believe it or not I corrected occasional but posted an older image. I've changed the song listing many times and inadvertently used an older version of the paragraph at the bottom. Glad you pointed that out.
* The Janice vs Janice Merritt was, again, from me too quickly combining two different versions of the graphic. Thanks for the heads up.
* Janice always proofs my writing effort but hadn't gone over this version. Lesson learned!
* The Apple logo is kudos to my iMac w/o which I would have never learned about Garageband and never found my way to PG Music.
* The little band on the table is symbolic of the bluegrass band that we played in for years (and restricted us from being "All Over the Map").
* The mic I'm holding simply means that everything was recorded with one mic and Realtracks.
* The thanks to Randy is re our great friend with whom we recorded our first CD. He was thrice Grammy nominated and a 12 time national fiddle champion who passed away at 39. A huge loss to the acoustic music world.
Finally, and FWIW, I shot the picture in our living room.

Bud,
I've done a few CDs, but have never added credit for the "band". I may be doing another project in the future and plan to add thanks to Band-in-a-Box for providing the means to fulfill the vision, etc.
Good luck on your new CD!
Bob
