used to be a real fan of BIAB but it seems the creators of new styles has a block. Across all of BIAB styles, there's nothing that approaches a simple, upbeat fusion track that could maybe be associated with a Chic Corea Electric Band genre or a Garaj Mahal kind of groove. I guess that just isn't the BIAB cup of tea. Too bad. BIAB is a great program. But for me, the styles sound as if they were born of a casio/wall-mart $89.00 sing-along keyboard. I've learned a lot using BIAB. But the styles/sounds are out of touch.

I'll keep visiting in hopes that someday things will change. In the interim, there are too many spectacular backing tracks available out there for me to mess with BIAB any more.

Chic Corea I remember from many years ago, but Garaj Mahal, who's that? OK, a few youtubes are available - jazz fusion. Ya thats cool! Hold it, I may have some second thoughts on that, did I just listen to a minute of the keyboard player adjusting his foot pedal - and now somekind of poety rendition about dinasours while the band does a 20 minute jam session over an cover version of Fly like an Eagle.?

Hard to image how BAIB can keep up with all this, but I do believe keep up is what they must do. So before you go, drop a note in the wish list to be sure this is identified.

Ctone,

What version of BIAB do you have?

Also, if you are talking MIDI-based styles, they can only sound as good as the synthesiser that's playing them. So if you're using a built-in computer synth it's more than likely the sounds will be lower quality.

Have listen to some of the Realtrack Jazz demos for BIAB 2013 at the following link. These are audio files that have all been created in BIAB (no dressing up).

The below link are to MIDI-based styles using a reasonable quality synthesiser.

All the best,
Noel

You're in luck.

Not sure what styles you've been listening to, but I would recommend listening to the many Jazz-Fusion RealStyles that we've made. For example, they include Sax solos by Eric Marienthal, long time Sax player in the Chick Corea Elektric Band.

You've likely been listening to MIDI styles, try out the RealStyles.
Here's a bunch of RealStyles with Jazz Fusion (Eric Marienthal on Sax)

BTW, the rhythm section here is Jeff Lorber (el. piano), Alex Al (Michael Jackson's bass player), Rick Lawson (Yellow Jackets drums)

Have Fun!
