You're not a noob with some of this stuff, you have good ears and you know computers. Perfect. There's several true recording pros on this forum and a lot of us like me who are pro level players but not really pro level recording types. It also sounds like you can afford pretty much whatever you want so get the Everything Pak or Ultra Plus Pak, I get those confused, whichever one give you everything. Get the hard drive, PG gets those out quickly even to the UK. If your ears are really that good you might go for the Audiophile version but that is expensive and frankly most of us here including me can't hear any difference. Read that link Matt posted.
