Well, I may be experimenting with something that may not have a big enough payback. As per your suggestion and sure enough, changing the split point from the original C4 to C5 solved many of the problems, but not all. There is just enough editing to take place as to make it less than a pleasant experience.

Not to tout another program (Bank in a Box in invaluable) but Sibelius, for example gives you a choice at the time of import of setting the split point to Fixed, or Automatic. I don't know how Automatic knows what to do, but it does, and brings the file in reading like it does in the original. It may be that the MIDI file itself has this information in it, I don't know.

I guess I was thinking that if I had a piano part with these chord changes in them, I could then embellish it somehow with BB and then play along with it in a way that is more pleasurable that cold and by itself. It may be, however, that my goal is not practical - unless someone else has some other ideas.
