BIAB "owns" the bass, piano, drums, guitar, and string tracks. Unless you do special things, BIAB will overwrite any changes you make to these tracks. You own the melody and soloist tracks. So you can try to move an imported bass part to the soloist, then mute the BIAB bass track - for example. This can be easily done with the "sequencer" feature in BIAB - click the green "SEQ" button to check that out.

You can also copy midi to the bass track and then freeze the bass track. Then BIAB will not overwrite it.
