I have a MIDI file I imported into BB 2013. I then saved the file. It allowed me to save it with a .MGX extension. This is the only option. Not sure what .MGX is for.

Anyway, I supposed that after saving the file from within BB I would be able to assign a different instrument to, say, the Melody part. But no matter what voice I assign the sound comes out the same.

Maybe the way I am trying to assign the voice is incorrect. My method is to (in the top black toolbar) put the radio on Melody, then in the instrument drop-down button (of that same black toolbar) I put in something like 49 strings.

This works when the radio is on Thru. That is, for Thru I can change the voice to what I want, but for melody I cannot

What am I missing?
