This goes beyond funeral marches to "never even born"

I have read somewhere that is really helps not to practice your mistakes. It is hard to believe that I have to play some passages that slow to not make mistakes, but alas, it is true. However, when I play it once or twice without mistakes and then bring the tempo up it feels comfortable. I promise not to stay on dirge tempos but for brief periods of time.

Woody...hope you know I was just kidding. (-:

You are SO correct about NOT "practicing your mistakes." Just about every teacher or top player interview I've ever heard of says exactly the same thing.

Practice at a tempo you can NAIL every single time and then...and only then...bump up the tempo A TOUCH.

Trouble is most of us who don't practice as compuslively as (most of) the greats get BORED stiff at slow tempos and refuse to follow the above advice...choosing instead to practice as fast as we can with the fewest number of mistakes....which only retards our progress.

Best,
Jim
