I am posting this country song, while I'm doing the final touches on a new blues song (with some vocals finally.) Let me know if this one sounds "done" mix wise, so I can concentrate on some lyrics. Sounds nice to me. Where are the lyrics going to go? You'll have to cut out a lot of the lead instruments to make room for a singer.

I don't know yet. Yes, I agree about the leads. I put them in, figuring I could always do bar settings to make room for the vocals. I kind of like the first part of the 2nd chorus, where it is just strumming guitar and fingerpicking guitar for a background when the vocals come in. Then add them sparingly around the vocals. I think I left them in to try to get a feel for a possible melody line. Don't have anything in mind yet. Do you? I am not a fast songwriter. Usually takes me more than twice as long to put lyrics to music.

This is well mixed and sounds very good. But, as already stated, I have no idea where you will put the vocals! Consequently it is impossible to determine if this backing track will work with the vocals.
This is a very good start. Good luck with your vocals.

Thank you for the nice review. It is all realtracks, no midi. I will probably drop the harmonica and fiddle to make room for vocals. Then sprinkle the instruments back in around the vocals, and swap them back and forth during the lead break. I was pleased with the overall quality of the sound, after I panned the guitars left and right, etc. I really am glad I upgraded to include realtracks. The editing capabilities of RB are so much fun.
P.S. Does anyone know if bar settings can be imported into RB?

Like the mix.
I find when I put together one like this - I have a hard time going back and putting vocals to it - so I end up sitting it a side as a instrumental. Sure hope you have better luck than me - I am looking forward to hearing a vocal track added.

I know. I just get into the music, sometimes the last thing I'm thinking of are lyrics. I fell in love with the violin at 2:23. I sure wish I could play like that. I would like lyrics to come as easily as music arrangement. I know a couple of female Christian music songwriters at work that have said they could be happy to collaborate on some stuff. That is probably the direction I will go this spring.
