Just got my Ultrapak 2009! I'll mainly be using the jazz styles. How do I make a Real Track soloist only play on the bridge of an AABA tune? Or trade 8's with a different Real Track soloist? Or how do I make the rest of the Real Band play with appropriate restraint during a Real Bass solo?  By the way, I've been using BIAB since the Atari ST days, so I'm not a complete newbie. But I've never used Realband before, so just let me know if these tasks are more appropriately accomplished in RealBand. Thanks.

Hi jazmaan,
To partly answer your questions - on the usual BIAB Soloist page make sure that the "Melody & Soloist" button is hit to enable this feature
PG Music Topic Quote-
"As with other Soloists, press the [All Solo] button to make sure that the Soloist will be generated for all choruses, or "Melody and Solo" if you just want the Soloist for a certain chorus".
The chords - say C etc with a .b = C.b will allow only the bass to play when in a soloist chorus (not melody)

Hello Jazmaan
To rest a RealTracks instrument at any bar, type the chord symbol followed by a period, followed by the first letter of any track that you want to exclude from the rest. For example, Cmaj.bdpg will rest all instruments at that bar except for the strings track.
To trade 8's with another RealTracks instrument, you would need to have two tracks, with an instrument on each track. Reducing the volume (bar settings) of other tracks could give the impression that they're restrained during the bass solo. Also check to see if there is a RealDrums style variation that you could use there.

I'm noticing you can't REST the melody or soloist tracks? So you would use a bar setting, and turn them off at a particular measure?

Hi,
Yes, you could do it that way. For the accompaniment tracks, if you use volume changes then the song generation time will be longer, because with rests it doesn't need to generate anything in those bars.
