Just thought I'd check in and introduce my self as I've just received/installed BIAB 2012.5.

Install went well but I see I have a lot to grasp and hope to learn a bit from the forum.

I've never used any loops or software tools of this nature in my writing/recording so this is all new to me.
Old habits die hard but BIAB seems a cool tool so I'll try to dig in.

On a side note:
It came with Amplitube 3.0 so I thought I would install it.
In my wildest dreams.
Three attempts...15 minute wait each time "checking my internet connection" and waiting for the registration process page only to have it time out ('not responding') with each attempt.
I can't even get on the homepage.
Words are inadequate to describe my frustration with it....I'm done.

So...hope all have great year as we continue on our learning curves.

Carry on....

Hi chulaivet1966,

Welcome to the forums

BIAB has a bit of a learning curve associated with it but it's well worth the effort. I use it as a songwriting tool and absolutely love it.

In relation to Amplitube, I found it best to go to http://www.ikmultimedia.com and set up a user's account first. Also, it's possible to get the free Amplitube from the above site and use that. If memory serves me correctly, once you've installed it, it's necessary to log-in to the User's Area (under the Support link) and grab the serial number that's under "Authorizations".

All the best,
Noel

Hello!

I am Douglas Wolfe of Sacramento. Welcome to the forum.

I too found the registration and install process for the IK Multimedia products to be frustrating. I did finally get it to work, and it is way worth the trouble. Sampletank, for me is more useful than Amplitube. You can bet that there will be further uses of IK products within PG products in the future. I don't remember all the steps I had to go through, but in the end I found it best to let the install process go the way it wants to, and not customize it.

There are a couple threads on here about how to make IK products install and run.

Noel96 and flatfoot....

Thanks for the welcome.

Yeah..I was up til midnight trying to get familiar with it all.
The learning curve is steep and as I state I've never used a tool of this nature.
But, I thought it could stimulate (what's left of) my creativity.

Amplitude frustration....I was not exaggerating with my comments above.
I did as you both did regarding trying to install/register and I followed the 'read me' file.
Registration of a purchased product should not be this painful.
I don't own any other IK software and this experience does not endear me to their products.
Although I'm totally turned off by my IK registration protocol experience I may try again today provided I've had enough coffee.

A creative day to all and I'm off to my vertical learning curve.

Thanks again...

Hey Danny C....

I hope I live long enough to learn BIAB.
It seems I'll need a neuron surplus because it's quite the learning curve.

UPDATE: only 45 minutes to finally get Amplitude 'authorized'.
Sampletank & T-tracks is even more of a headache to install.
After several attempts IE has many "problems with the webpage" and it will not load.
Oh well.

Thanks again.

Thanks MountainSide...

I have a question already.

I've done a test song layout and saved the file
I noticed after selecting 'associate files with BIAB' the files have their proprietary file extensions.

Can I import this file into Cakewalk (Sonar 5.0PE) and work with it further to track vocals.
I was thinking it's still a midi file?

Many thanks to this think tank.

Welcome chulaivet1966,

Your avatar has a guitar in it and you can never have to many guitarists here

Along with drop and drag you can save a BiaB file as MIDI. Either click on the .MID icon or press F6 to get to the midi save menu.

Also this is the nicest and most knowledge music forum you will find on the web. Feel free to ask any question. The only dumb question here is the one not asked.

Also do not try to learn Biab all at once. Read a little then put some chords in, pick a style and listen. Try another style. Start small then work your way up.

Have fun!

Back in my day the only time we started panic buying was when the bartender shouted "last call"!

...can't have too many axes to grind on.

In case anyone was curious:
On the left: 1973 Guild D40 Sunburst I purchased in 1978
On the right: 1977 Ibanez Silver Series Tele purchased in 1979

Well...I did the 'save to a midi file' process and I was able to import into Sonar.
Gave me some user grief until I figured out I had to select proper port being the CoyoteWT.

I'm very accomplished at asking inane questions.
Yes...the curve is steep so small doses of about 10mg at a time will be protocol for me.

Thanks MarioD...carry on.

Did you try D&D from the Combo with DAW set to move all individual tracks into your DAW as either midi or rendered audio? Like in the Video. It only talkes two or three clicks and all the tracks appear in your DAW.

Well...I watched the wrong video the first time which was the '2012.5' video.
I'm daft sometimes.

Off to the right of the page I see the tutorial vid you were referring to.
I just watched it twice.
Very cool option.
Obviously that page is 'bookmarked'.

I thank you for the guidance.

What is that axe your holding there?.
Not enough detail for my old eyes but looks like a ES flavor with that cut-away.
I just can't see the f-holes if my guess is correct.

Cool indeed - you virtually use BIAB as a VSTi in your DAW
Next you will need to find "F5". This is BIABs most powerful secret.

Thanks for asking, it is a Epiphone Sheraton-II

I have been around for quite a while but still use maybe only 75% of what BIAB can do.

What's this Amplitude, Sampletank & T-tracks you speak of? Rhetorical (well sort of) as I have not even started to get a grip on these new features.

Funny you ask that question.

Last night I was looking to see if it was Sonar being "Process/Audio/VST" or accessible in the 'tools' menu and BIAB isn't listed anywhere that I can see.

I did type F5 in both Sonar and BIAB but not getting the connection as of yet.

I'll keep digging....

Side note: I googled your axe and don't mind saying I wreak with some envy.
I'm sure it plays well.

Howdy...

The Amplitube v3.1.1 came with my copy (2 days ago) of BIAB 2012.5.

When I finally created an IK media account and got Amplitube registered it took me to a page that stated I was authorized the free version of Sampletank and T-Tracks.
My experience was not good for either so they will not reside on my system.

Hope you have better luck.

I don't have 'grip' on any of it yet.
