I would be interested in this if you do get one as I am thinking of doing this too. The only thing about it that worries me at present is the resolution - the typical is 1920×1080p whic if your viewing close is not so good - maybe - not sure.
Contradicting myself
I went to the TV shop and looked at the resolution close up and maybe I could live with it.

Its seems crazy hard to get a simple large monitor, and for old school like me the new 'wide screen' standard actually is 'short screen' if you know what I mean. It's easy to be mislead by the hype. Build quality on many monitors seems also poor.

Also Pat have you thought about your graphics card, what it supports in the way of highest resolution? You probably have. Win 8 wont run on my old monitors as the resolution is too low.

I'm still on Win 7, and based on what I've read in these other threads, I'm gonna jump in. If it doesn't work for a monitor, I can always use it as a TV. Either way, I'm tired of squinting.
