I would respectfully disagree. Like you, I have moved from Windows to MAC but find lack of Real Band to be a disadvantage.
I know that Garage Band is bundled and I use Logic as my main production tool, but there is a particular feature in Real Band that I miss: I often mix BIAB-generated tracks with recorded tracks of real performances. At times, the live recordings do not follow the metronome completely and I need to insert subtle tempo variations for the BIAB tracks to fully sync with the recordings. In Real Band it is fairly easy - in the DAW create a precise tempo map for the live recording, export the tempo map with a MIDI file. Load the MIDI file into Real Band and generate the BIAB tracks. Viola, the BIAB musicians now follow the recorded tempo.

BIAB itself does not allow intra-bar tempo changes, nor changes in fractions of a beat, which is needed to sync up with live recordings. This is not an insurmountable problem - you can slice and stretch the live tracks to fit into the proscribed tempo, but think about how much nicer it is to have the BIAB tracks to follow the nuances of live performance. This is where Real Band was helping me a lot!

Oleg.
