Hi, I have the MegaPak RealBand that comes on the 80GB USB Hard drive. I used to be able to run it fine on different computers (as long as they were running XP). The Problem: Tonight I had it running on my laptop (XP SP2). The program vanished and it wasn't being recognized by my computer. I rebooted my computer with it in...didn't show up. I took it out and plugged it back into the USB and it briefly had the Autorun box searching, and then it vanished. Under Mycomputer, it didn't show up at all. I tried it on 2 other computers and it's like nothing is even plugged in.
Does anyone have any ideas of what happened and how to fix it. Not only was this my copy of RealBand that was purchased, but I had saved some work on it as well.

Have you made sure to try the 'double USB' connection. Try using both USB connections on the cable that came with it to connect to the computer. This makes sure the drive is getting adequate power.
Two go in the computer and one into the drive... IF you got that connector with the drive..
If it works; back everything up! backup backup backup...
I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

I have my usb drive running with both USB connectors feeding it. I found that with just one it sometimes showed up sometimes not. With both or an external power supply I have had no problems.

Thanks for the suggestions Rharv and PapaMikie. I tried it with both USB connectors at the same time and it still didn't show up as being plugged in. The most confusing thing is on my desktop, one of the tries, for a few seconds had the AutoRun box going and then vanished again. MyComputer still doesn't give any indication it is even plugged in to the computer. So it looks like it's not just the data on the hard drive that's missing, it seems that the hard drive is now just a box of metal.

Under the unplug or eject hardware does it show up? if it does use this to eject and start again.
The good news may be that the drive is OK and you only need a new box with the USB stuff. Call PG and see what they can do.

The hard disk itself is most likely ok. It sounds like a new enclosure and USB cable would fix the problem. Please contact sales@pgmusic.com and request that. Refer to this forum post. (don't return the disk) In the mean-time, try plugging the drive directly into the back of the computer, using two USB ports there - if you have two pairs of USB ports, use one port from each pair. This should provide enough power for it.
