How can I write the chord suffix m11(b5)?

m11b5 is not supported by BIAB but you can use 7susb5#9 instead. It'll give you the right notes but will miss out the 9th.

Hope this helps

Alan

Or he could play the m7b5 while making a big facial grimmace and everyone will think its a much more difficult chord.

Hi Alan,
thanks for your proposal.
Something must be going wrong. When I enter for example C7susb5#9 the comping sounds like C9sus.

That´s not possible, because I play in a dark room. :-((

This happens because some of the piano patterns are assigned chord masks in the stylemaker. The chord mask in question doesn't distinguish between altered dominant chords (7b9 #9 b5 etc) and simple 7sus or 9sus chords. So what should be purely a 9sus riff gets played over the altered chords as well.

Same thing happens with m7 chord masks which get played over mMaj7 and maj7 riffs which are applied to maj7b5 chords.

I've pointed out this problem many times but it would appear that it's a low priority on the upgrade/fix list.
The only thing to do is find the patterns and either mute them or change the notes so the can be applied to any chord without any masks.

Regards

Alan

Hi Alan,

I am a complete Newbie concerning BiaB. Can Real Tracks also be manipulated thru stylemaker?
How can I deactivate this function to hear the "real" chordsymbol sound?

Hi cudo,

If you want a Cm11b5 chord, I would suggest this substitute:

Ebm69/C

This will give you the notes:

C-Eb-F-Gb-Bb
1-b3-4-b5-b7

(m7b5 with an added 11th)

I am suggesting this chord because most RealTracks will play a m69 chord, and the bass instrument will play the C. Together this makes a m11b5 chord.

"Can Real Tracks also be manipulated thru stylemaker?" - No, because the StyleMaker is for making/editing MIDI styles only.

"How can I deactivate this function to hear the "real" chordsymbol sound?"
- If you are getting MORE notes than you want to hear (eg. type C7 and you hear C7b9), then checking the "Simpler" check box in the RealTracks picker should do the trick.

- If you are hearing LESS notes or different notes than you want to hear (eg. type C7susb5#9 and you hear C7sus) this is usually because that particular RealTrack does not have that chord available and has substituted it with something more simple.

Thank you for the hints for creating an Xm11(b5) sound Blake.

Good to know, because I thought I did something wrong.
