Hi Folks,
I just laid a track with 1 MIDI track carried over from BIAB; Realdrums; and 6 audio tracks. I wanted to do a quick mix and simply fade out at the end. So I clicked "record mixer moves only", played the track and faded out at the end. All of the tracks faded out except for 2 of the audio tracks, 1 of 3 vocal tracks and 1 or 2 horn tracks. I retried 3 times with the same result, so I went back and faded each track on a separate pass, still using "Record mixer moves only". Any idea why these tracks would not fade?
My second issue is not being able to mix these tracks down to an .mp3 or .wav. I click "merge audio and dxi to compressed file....." or wave file,---the progress bar comes up, then I get an error message about 3/4 of the way through and everything stops (I wrote down the exact error message but cannot get to it until later today). Is there something that I am or am not doing in order to get a mix of this tune? Thanks in advance all,---I can give more info, if needed, when I get home after work.

OK you can't do mixer moves on the master faders but you can the ALL fader. It worked fine here.I also tried fading 12 tracks individually and this worked fine as well.. A better way to do a fade though is to highlight all of the tracks from the point you want to start the fade until the end then do an audio effects/fade.

If I encountered that situation (progress bar hits a stop point) I'd try the corrupted file route.
I'd first 'Save As' and see if the new file exhibeted same behavior.
If so, I'd start looking at the file and try to find some 'glitch' .. I'd start by checking audio events triggered later in the song. How much later may be related to how far the progress bar got.

If still stuck
Before giving up, try File - Open Backup
RB does make a backup of the previous version saved. See if that renders OK.

I assume other seq files render OK (?)

Rharv,
This is actually the first file I've tried to render from RB. Boy, I really am a moron, aren't I? Let me try another file and follow a normal diagnosic proceedure to narrow it down. Thanks for bearing with me, I am definitely a newbie who needs to study the program a little more (or a LOT more!).........I'll try a few things and let you know.

Rharv, have you any thoughts on why corrupted files happen so often. When i say often, i mean they happen from time to time. It is not like that happens daily or even weekly, but every now and again a file corrupts. I don't have that issue with other software, and i know this program does a lot more processes in the daily use. But i have lost a solid handfull this last year.

I hesitate to answer that because
a. Program A works well on system A but program B doesn't. Often system specific for a given program.
I was frustrated with parts of Adobe CS* until I installed it on a different system with about equal specs; go figger. Worked well on one, not the other.

b. I don't personally have the corrupted file experience enough to theorize.

To me, a progress bar stopping tells me the program started the process (indicating all appeared well) and hit a stumbling block where it stopped. Corruption is just a theory, could be out of space, interruted process, etc.

I've suggested many many times here, and often get drilled with the "WHY?" afterwards, but ..
Everything works smoother and faster here when I use a separate drive for Temp Audio.
That and enough RAM are two huge factors when reccording/editing audio and video.

On my system i have two drives the "C" and "E" drive (D drive is the CD/DVD) i have as you would suspect the OS on "C", and BiaB, RB, Sampletank, VSTis and even all my Song Files on "E" when i open Pref, i find the temp folder on "C" what would you suggest i do different, that might help smooth things out a bit?

Move temp folder off OS drive.
Create a new folder on E:
Point temp audio directory in RB to there.

I have programs and VST'(i)s on C drive. That doesn't seem to be an issue. They run in Windows area of C: anyway when envoked (I think). OS usually uses a C: temp area to run things, and RB gives you a chance to separate the audio temp from the system temp.

Mind you, when you shut down RB the audio temp folder gets cleaned out, so it will be empty except when working in RB. But when you make edits or record, those needed chunks of data are in the temp audio folder until you save and close. Then they get written to the file and the temp area gets cleaned up when you close.
