Has anyone else noticed how the bass plays major scale embellishments over altered dominant chords when employing most swing styles? Is this just a midi thing or are real tracks different in this respect? To me and especially if you're playing with bass alone you'd be wanting your bass player to relate more to the chord of the moment. Playing a major ascending in steps C,D,E, G and down again just doesn't cut it over C13b9 or even C13b5b9. What do others find here?
