Hi Alan,
Have you tried using the "Simpler" feature? This forces a RealTrack to play a simple version: sticking to chord tones and keeping embellishment to a minimum. Most of the Jazz RealTracks have this option available. You can find the check box in the top right of the RealTracks picker.
