Is the reason melodyne does not work inside RB the same issues as with Jamstix?
If then would it not be a great plan to work on this, since that would be a great plugin to use in RB?
Is this something in the works or just not on the list?
I ask this with complete respect. I know that PG wants to please the users, and that there are priorities.
It is just that i love this software, and so much want it to really be the best. Being able to fully utilize VST technology is vital in the future.
I could not care less about skins, GUI, fancy modern looks. I love functionality!
Before someone chastises me for wanting this to "be like other softwares" I hardly think getting a feature that RB already has (VST) to fully work is not the same.
Also I am not calling the PG team out, just wanting to hear some dialog regarding this long term request.
I have made several other requests. Node based automation being one. I hope for that, but can live with the system we have, at least for now.
But VST implementation is vital. There are many VST and VSTi plugs with master timing request.
Just imagine RB with the ability to add Jamstix and multi output drum tracks, melodyne and the ability to open in FX and tune vocals.
Here is another though for the PG team. Take a look at the vocal tune plug in Reaper, while it is not melodyne, it is pretty cool with the ability to draw vocal corrections.
It is based on elastique technology. Guess what RB has elastique. Hhhhmmmmm maybe a joint venture with either Cockos, or just with elastique.
Lets discuss this issue, as it would make RB heads and shoulders above the others in my opinion.

I agree, progress on the VST issues mentioned, along with it's already unique capabilities, would really put RB over the top as a DAW. PG is a great company with unique software, and the accompanying support is second to none. Hopefully we can get some feedback on this issue from PG staff.

Yeah, I trying not to be a nag, or a jerk about it, but the VST issue do make it hard to no bounce out to another software. I did a song in RB recently, and had to polish the vocals in Sonar X1. The tracks sounded just as good mixed in RB, but for a few minor vocal corrections needed. I had to move it over. The learning curve to two major programs is deep.

This is why I've given up on this issue with RB and I'm going in another direction for my primary DAW. No way am I knocking PG though because RB is free to most users. For that price it's very capable and a great deal. Considering how good Peter has been with almost every other request users have come up with I can only conclude the basic code just won't do it for some reason and fixing this would simply cost too much for a give away program. If rewriting RB also entails them charging say $100 for it that puts them into a whole new world of competition.
The big deal with RB is it's ability to work with Biab files and generate multiple RT/RD parts on a track by track basis. That alone makes it worth the time needed to learn it. It's also worth noting that the recent enhancements to Biab seems to be encroaching on what was exclusively RB's turf. You can do almost everything in Biab now including multiple RT or midi parts using different styles on any instrument track. That was a big deal when RB was first created 4 years ago but then there's only 7 Biab parts while RB has 48 tracks.
Now I'm starting to think (many times, that's not a good thing...). If PG wanted to expand their customer base they could possibly use a revamped Real Band to do it. Go ahead and make it competitive with the bigger name DAWs and start a big PR and advertising campaign, charge accordingly but keep it either free or heavily discounted to Biab users. Then when the wide world of non Biab people sees what the RT/RD's can really do that would open their eyes to Biab. Iow make RB fully competitive with Sonar, Cubase, Studio One etc and market it that way with a tie in to Biab but not make that the main focus. It's just a hot new DAW with all these great Real Tracks. As the new RB users get familiar with it they'll see Biab in there anyway.

I agree and that is why I posted this. Sometimes posts like this can somewhat alienate you from the user base a bit , due to fear that this is a request to somehow push PG in a direction many don't want to go. That is make it mainstream. Go head to head with the Cubans, sonars and the like. Actually I don't want that. RB to me is very unique. I like it that way. I don't want PG to head down that road at all. I just wish I could use it for all my needs. One of those needs is to use Jamstix, and melodyne. These are regularly used by me in my process.
I just spent three days really evaluating the software on my system looking at each program to see what I want to go forward with. I am on the brink of ,doing an upgrade to the OS, to win 7 or 8, and I know I will have to reinstall a bunch of stuff. I am hoping to reinstall a bit less. BiaB/RB for sure, and since it does the reinstall so simply from the external HD! No problem.
I also own sonar, reaper, and Multitrackstudio, so I just put those three through a very intensive work out to see which one will support RB. So far MTS is winning. It handles Jamstix, and melodyne far better than either reaper or sonar. One thing MTS does with melodyne is that the scroll bar in Melodyne actually follows the song, so that I do not have to keep moving the bar manually. That program, and RB make a killer combo.
Having said that if only RB did JS, and Melodyne. I could start and finish there.
My final test will be which one allows drop and drag the best.
