BTW - for those of you interested in being friends with me on FB - send a PM (or indicated right in this post, if you're comfortable) the particular name on need to search for to find you - that is, your Facebook name.
OK, here is the disconnect again, I give up.

I've got a personal page that I use fairly frequently (all my friends from LiveJournal are migrating there) and an artist page I really should use more. No incentive to give up my regular web site, though.
Tom,
The "Artist" page, that is what I am talking about, it works!

I'll add to the poll.
Me....never. I have no inclination to be on any social networking site, not my thing. Other than a few music/USMC forums I prefer to be anonymous, incognito, transparent, unnoticed and off the social grid.
Guess I'm somewhat asocial (just short of anti...<grin>)
Carry on....

I got off because it was non stop "come and hear my band play" garbage. No, I am not coming to hear your 80s copy band play the same songs in the same order as you did in 1988. You don't come to see ME play..... got tired of that.

I'm glad we're not married Danny - though somehow I picked someone that has as much trouble understanding me as you do.
But I think Eddie clearly understood my point as he made his own.
An artist page - fine. Business advertising with no hidden agenda - fine.
But the 'come {insert personal monetary or political interest here} because you're my friend' - insincere and superficial.
Don't forget - FB was founded on the concept of 'social media' - and that is the way most people are using it. Advertising as a means of support, fine. But don't clutter my wall with your personal agenda. My wall is meant mostly for social interaction.
Where's the disconnect ?

1st of all there are too many reasons to list here as to why we would never be married, but I digress. The disconnect is that your initial response had nothing to do with what Eddie said. In fact in my understanding, you saying that you like to check in on people even if you know they don't care about you is even worse then the “come hear my band request from another stranger”. For what it's worth I agree with Eddie. As to why Facebook was setup . . . if you believe that there was never any intention to make money I have some swamp land outside of the levee protection I want to sell you, I promise it will never flood. Joe at least once a week Facebook is trying to sell me ads. Presently I don't buy them because I agree with what Eddie said, but if they show me that it will increase my business I would have to reconsider. Regarding your wall, 1st of all you don't own any wall or anything on your Facebook page. If you want an uncluttered wall my suggestion would be for you to find a place to socialize where you "PAY" for the service i.e. a website. As then and only then you will have a say as to what can be posted on your wall. Contrary to what some may believe there is no such thing as a free lunch, someone has to pay for it. Now I am going to work on a play-list for Thursday and Fridays gigs that by the way, I advertised for and will also be happy to accept my performance fees. Look I am all for whatever you want, that is unless it's for keeping this discussion that seems to be going in a circle alive. PS: PG Music has a very informative Facebook business page. I'm done,

I have both a band page and a regular personal page. However since they have made it to where you can add links to the personal page. I use it instead of the band page. I use it to post sermons, my music, and just to keep in touch with family and friends. Facebook is the giant you speak of, it just helps to keep in touch with folks. My Music

Danny - I think we are on the same page even though our semantics makes it seem like we aren't. And how do you know we wouldn't have made good life partners ; )
(BTW - My wife's name is Silvia, she's a beautiful woman inside and out, and I couldn't be any luckier and happier that I met her)

Google is a pretty darn good harvesting outfit as well. Use Chrome AND get on FB, they will be really happy... especially if you actually sign into Google with you gmail account.

Of course, the interesting thing is that we want easy access to everyone else's info when we are Googling or surfing or using Facebook; we just don't want our own information available to others.

202 New RealTracks Released with Band-in-a-Box 2026!
With Band-in-a-Box® 2026, we've released 202 incredible new RealTracks (in sets 468-488) in a variety of genres—featuring your most requested styles!
Jazz, Funk & World (Sets 468-475):
Our new jazz, funk & blues RealTracks include a groovin’ collection of RealTracks and RealDrums! These include more requested “soul jazz” RealTracks featuring artists Neil Swainson (bass), Charles Treadway (organ), Brent Mason (guitar), and Wes Little (drums). There are new “smooth jazz” styles (4), which include a RealTracks first: muted trumpet, as well as slick new smooth jazz brushes options for drums. Blues lovers will be thrilled—there are more “classic acoustic blues” styles, including guitar (5), bass (4), and drums (10) with blues master Colin Linden, featuring understated and tasty background acoustic soloing, plus brushes drums and acoustic bass. There are also new electric blues RealTracks, including electric blues with PG favorite Johnny Hiland (3) and soulful electric slide guitar from Colin Linden (4). If you love funk & gospel, there are great new options this year, including gospel organ (3) from Charles Treadway, as well as new funk, tango, and rock ’n’ roll drums (3) and bass (1). And for big, bold arrangements, we have uptempo soul horns (4) featuring a three-part hip horn section with options for a full mix or stems of each individual horn — plus an accompanying rhythm section (4) of drums, bass, guitar, and electric piano!
Rock & Pop (Sets 476–482):
Our new rock & pop RealTracks bring a powerful mix of requested favorites, fresh genres, and modern chart-inspired styles! We have more of our popular “Producer Layered Acoustic Guitars (15)” featuring Band-in-a-Box favorite Brent Mason. We’ve continued our much-requested disco styles (10), and added new Celtic guitar (5) with a more basic, accessible approach than our previous Drop-D or DADGAD offerings. There are also highly requested yacht rock styles (17), inspired by the smooth, polished soft-rock sound of the late ’70s and early ’80s — laid-back grooves, silky electric pianos, warm textures, elegant harmonic movement, and pristine production aesthetics. Fans of heavier styles will love our new glam metal (13), capturing the flashy, high-energy sound of ’80s arena-ready guitar rock. We also have a set of rootsy modern-folk rock (18), with a warm, organic sound combining contemporary folk textures and driving acoustic strumming. And we’ve added lots of new modern pop styles (16) — the kinds of sounds you’re hearing on the radio today, featuring exciting new drums, synths, and cutting-edge RealTracks arrangements.
Country, & Americana (Sets 483–488):
Our new country & Americana RealTracks deliver a rich collection of acoustic, electric, and roots-inspired styles! We have new country pop (9) with legendary guitarist Brent Mason. There is also a potpourri (14) of bouzouki, guitars, banjo, and more, perfect for adding texture and character to contemporary acoustic arrangements. We’ve added funky country guitar (5) with PG favorite Brent Mason, along with classic pedal steel styles (5) featuring steel great Doug Jernigan. There are more country songwriter styles (8) that provide intimate, rootsy foundations for storytelling and modern Americana writing. Finally, we have “background soloing” acoustic guitar (12) with Brent Mason — simpler, but still very tasty acoustic lines designed to sit beautifully behind vocals or act as a subtle standalone solo part.
Check out all the 202 new RealTracks (in sets 468-488)!
And, if you are looking for more, the 2026 49-PAK (for $49) includes an impressive collection of 20 bonus RealTracks, featuring exciting and inspiring additions to add to your RealTracks library. You'll get new country-rhythm guitar styles from PG Music favorites Johnny Hiland and Brent Mason, along with modern-pop grooves that capture today’s radio-ready sound! There are also new indie-folk styles with guitar, bass, 6-string bass used as a high-chording instrument, acoustic guitar, and banjo. Plus, dedicated "cymbal fills" RealDrums provide an added layer that work very well with low-key folky styles with other percussion.
The 2026 49-PAK is loaded with other great new add-ons as well. Learn more about the 2026 49-PAK!
