I think you should have just gone ahead and posted what you had for sale, I have seen it often enough on the off topic forum where people have sold numerous items.
I think you as a long standing forum member should have the privilege of doing that and that as everyone knows you, they won't be ripped off.
Sometimes just going ahead and doing it is the best way, worst would have been that your post would have been pulled, and I think thats highly unlikely.
