I appreciate the New Features tutorials, but is there a starting point for learning how to record songs in RealBand. Somebody coming into this new, won't immediately go to New Features because 'new' doesn't really apply to someone who still hasn't dealt with 'old.' I am willing to put in the time learning, but I have spent too much time looking for the original tutorial to start with so I can graduate to the New Features tutorials. Thanks.

I have read the PDF documentation and it does not satisfy my questions. The documentation assumes the user is familiar with recording terms. I can guess what 'sub-groups' means, or 'rendering' but good documentation would make sure I don't make assumptions, especially wrong ones. Bad habits result.
My guess is that someone like me who wants to learn mixing properly needs to take a course to become familiar with termonology. Am I right?
I appreciate the volunteer nature of the forms but 'sound bite' answers to a real neophyte like me are not always useful which results in follow-up, after follow-up question, which is inefficient for everyone.
So, is there a course/source where I can learn how to record well, mix best and cut a decent final product (is it a master, or a render, or what?).

Hey PW, I understand your frustrations, it's quite a learning curve for the newbie.
There's some tutorials that were made by Ray Thigpen (who has since passed away) but their still on the forum somewhere...can't remember who it is that has them available so you'll have to ask around, or maybe someone else can chime in and tell you who it is.
There a little dated but still have a lot of good information to get you started. I used them when I first started and there done very well, I highly suggest you give them a try.

...stick with it, ask a lot of questions and have patience and perseverance. You won't find the answers in a single manual, but you will find them is lots of manuals....

PW, take a look at these. These are the Ray Thigpen videos That FreeMan refers to: search for JFord's post on Nov 7th in the RealBand forum...all the links are posted there. Alternatively, search all forums with the search word: Thigpen or try this link http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/showflat.p...true#Post383266

Thanks for jumping in MS, I should have remembered that it was John that has them available..... Must be the thin air up here in central Florida...it affects the memory...or maybe it's just my age.....
